What you will need
To operate a HardWaves system, some items are required, other are just helpful.
Required
- One HardWaves Surfer
- One or more HardWaves One board(s)
- A small magnet
- A host system (Raspberry-PI or any other supported host)
- A computer with a WEB browser installed (we suggest Firefox or Chrome)
Not essential but helpful to have
- Internet connection, to update or download software.
Step 1 - Host Setup
A ready to use host system and a working Surfer can be setup following the How to build a HardWaves system page.
Step 2 - Surfer verify
Assuming that previous step is OK, check for Surfer operation:
- if necessary, run your preferred WEB browser and open the "Wine" page on it
- click (or tap) on "Enroll Nodes" tab
- check for "Surfer:UP" under "Server Status"
Done.
Step 3 - Surfer setup
Assuming that previous step is OK, Surfer setup is quite simple:
- click (or tap) on "Enroll Nodes" tab
- enter 16 hex digits (0..9, a..f, case insensitive) to change the "Network Key" and confirm
This will set your own key, that will be shared by any node on the network.
If you change this key in the future, you will lose connection with existing nodes.
Step 3 - Enroll HardWaves One node(s)
To enroll one or more HardWaves One node(s), you must set Surfer in "Enroll Mode":
- choose mode, "Single Address" if you have just one node to enroll, "Multiple Adresses" if you want to enroll more than one node
- set the address you want, e.g. 201
- using the magnet, enter the "Enroll Command" on the node ( see User Interface)
- repeat the previous step for all the available nodes
Now you can interact with HardWaves One boards via WEB browser.
